HomeAbout MeAug 10, 2006
I am Suratno, currently a Head of Dept. of Philosophy & Religion, Paramadina University, Jakarta. I do agree that radical Islam groups are sporadically more violent, but as Merle Ricklefs argues, they have no prospect of winning political power in the country. It is not only because the forces of tolerant, pluralistic and progressive Islam are strongly institutionalized, but also because Muslims themselves are now firmly standing in the frontline in fighting the literal and radical understanding of Islam. I write this blog, exactly, on behalf of such fighting.
